Thousands of people die each year in accidents involving trucks

Every day, a number of large trucks take to the nation's highways to transport goods. The number of miles logged by professional drivers continues to grow.

In 2007, more than 430 billion miles were driven by professional truck drivers. While large fleets of trucks are necessary for the country's economy, they also pose a safety risk.

More than 3,300 people died last year in an accident involving a truck, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Motorists should always keep their eyes on the road to help prevent motor vehicle accidents from taking place. Limiting distractions, such as cell phones, can also aid drivers in avoiding a potentially dangerous accident.

Despite one's greatest efforts, a collision can still take place. Weather conditions and another drivers actions are something even the best motorist doesn't have control over.

Many motorists wouldn't imagine driving without auto insurance, but there is another form of insurance motorists should have, too. A life insurance policy is one way a motorist can help prepare for the unexpected. In the event of a fatal accident, a life insurance policy can help pay off one's debts and provide financial security to loved ones.
