Back-To-School shopping should include life insurance

Oct 07, 2011

Raising a child can be expensive. But leaving them unprotected in the event of a death will be even more financially burdensome for them in the future.

As summer has come to an end, families prepare for another school year. Just as education prepares young minds for the future, a life insurance policy can protect family and loved ones from future financial burden.

Recent research from Legal and General found that supporting a family has become more expensive over the past few years, prompting many parents to take out life insurance policies to aid surviving family members from unnecessary stress and struggles.

The start of the school year is not only a great month for purchasing school supplies, but life insurance as well. Throughout September insurance providers, organizations and individuals took action to get the word out on the importance of life insurance for family members and loved ones.

Companies will continue to work with nonprofit organizations, including the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education, to create awareness on life insurance options and benefits. With the support of providers, LIFE has created an online toolkit to help consumers assess their life insurance needs and coverage. The kit includes calculators, fact sheets and marketing materials.
