Purchase life insurance early

Older men are more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer

There are many benefits to purchasing life insurance early. Frequently people get lower life insurance quotes when they are younger, since they tend to be in better health.

As people age, the likelihood of being diagnosed with some serious conditions increases. For example, the American Cancer Society says nearly two out of three prostate cancer diagnoses are for men over the age of 65.

While the exact causes of cancer remain unknown, research shows early detection can help yield positive treatment outcomes. As part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, the Prostate Conditions Education Council will be offering free and low-cost screenings.

"This year, PCAW will screen nearly 125,000 men," says PCEC president Wendy Poage. "These men will not only play an active role in safeguarding their health, but data collected during these screenings will help researchers find new and improved ways to address this deadly disease."

In addition to getting screened, it would be wise for people to eat a balanced diet and get plenty of exercise. Those in good health have a better chance of warding off not just cancer, but other serious health conditions as well.
