Many people aren't sure if they have enough life insurance

For some people, just realizing the value of a life insurance policy is a big step in the right direction. However, simply having a policy isn't enough. It may be a good idea for people to make sure they have enough life insurance coverage to meet their needs.

Data from the Principal Financial Well-Being Index reveals that more than a third of people with life insurance are unsure if they have enough coverage. However, the index also shows that 82 percent of workers have at least some life insurance coverage for themselves.

"As Americans continue to rebuild from the financial crisis, life insurance is one of the most basic tools for personal financial security," said Principal Financial Group vice president of individual life Greg Linde.

It may be a good idea for individuals to sit down with a life insurance agent to go over the various options available. A professional may be best suited to determine what type of plan, and the amount of that plan, will best meet a person's goals. People can also go online to get life insurance quotes.
