Ryan Dunn, who rose to fame as part of the Jackass franchise of movies and television shows, died in a car crash early Monday morning. The 34-year-old and another individual in the car both perished in the accident that happened just a few hours after Dunn had tweeted pictures of himself drinking, the Today Show reports.
The police told the Associated Press that the victims 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 was off the road and in the woods. They also reported that the car was completely engulfed in flames. It has not been determined is speed was a factor, but authorities have not ruled it out. It was unclear if Dunn had a life insurance policy.
"We are devastated by the tragic loss of Ryan Dunn - a beloved member of the MTV family for more than a decade," Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music/Films Group, said in a statement.
The accident took place in a Philadelphia suburb on Route 322. Dunn was born in Ohio and moved to Pennsylvania when he was 15, according to the AP. Many of the members of the Jackass clan took to twitter to express their devastation and condolences.
