With Diabetes Alert Day, sponsored by the American Diabetes Association, near, one life insurance company offered tips for individuals with diabetes trying to find insurance for themselves.
The company quotes Mike Woods, an underwriting specialist for Pinney Insurance Center, who said people need to manage their diabetes with an ideal A1c score of 6.5 and lower for the best possible insurance rates. Eating right, taking medication and keeping a low-sugar diet will help this out. People should also seek out insurers who specialize in giving policies for people with "impaired risk."
“Compare life insurance quotes from several different companies," Woods said. "Work with an agent who has experience helping diabetics get covered. A good agent will help you in your search.”
